2009
Looking ahead to the new year

2009 sees the launch of our new site, with updates to existing sections along with two new sections examples images which contains photos of some of our recent work and supporting the environment which outlines how we are keeping our impact to a minimum and also how the customer can save money whilst supporting the environment. Any comments or feedback are most welcome.

Work-wise the year has kicked off with a new, medium sized, project on Courtney Avenue, which will include over 70 doors and numerous items of furniture, all in need of a colour change from light Beech to a much darker Walnut colour and a Walnut bathroom which also needs to be polished. The work on the house in Richmond is still ongoing as extensions to the work have been made - Oak panelling to the sauna and treatment rooms, which will be stained white and polished to keep the wood grain showing through, this has the lovely effect of keeping the wood very light but still retaining the Oak's figure. Eaton Square will also be high on our list, with a door to strip and re-polish along with some handrails and a few lifts.

2008
Summary

2008 has been another busy year, with a few large projects and smaller private, residential work, too numerous to mention here. Below are outlined some of the larger projects we've completed or are working on this year.

September, 2008
Richmond

We've just taken on a project in Richmond. The house is a new development and has lots of new woodwork to finish. The staircases need a complete change of colour to match the new floors, which are a silver/grey, the handrails will match the doors which we will change from a light Oak to a darker Walut colour. There are two large staircases and about fourty doors, so we expect to take a few weeks on this.

Crowne Plaza Hotel

Like most hotels image is a very important factor for The Crowne Plaza, so they keep uptodate with their repairs. The Walnut doors throughout the hotel, due to general wear and tear, had been damaged. What would have cost thousands of pounds and considerable time to replace the doors, cost only hundreds and took only a few days to bring back to a new and presentable looking state. We can now put a contract in place and make sure the doors are kept presentable and regularly revived.

March, 2008
Mahogany Panelled Rooms

We were asked in to revive three very old Mahogany panelled rooms at Cumberland house, Knightsbridge all where in a very poor state, most of the skirtings where replaced and much of the cornices. New window frames and radiator cases where fitted all of which need to be matched to the existing wood. The rooms are now cleaned and revived and the scratches and damage repaired. Click here to see some photos of the finished rooms.

February, 2008
Albert Court

The management at Albert Court recently reviewed all there furniture and realised that the old Oak tables in their reception hall where worth many thousands of pounds. However they all where finished very poorly, with varnish, which hid the wood beneath. We stripped and re-polished the tables using tradtional French Polish to return them to there former glory.

2007
Summary

2007 was an extreemly busy year for us, so busy that we had little time to update this news section. Some of our work highlights included matching new woodwork to old at London's Tallow Chandlers, the historic candle makers' halls, which date back to 1672. Another project challenged us to make a brand new Pine panelled room look antique, see the pictures here . Other projects included a light Oak kitchen taken down to a much darker Wenge colour, an original Sheraton table, not to mention a number of handrails, tables and doors on Eaton Square for Grosvenor Estates.

October, 2006
Eaton Square

After a brief change in Grosvenor personnel, which halted our work on Eaton Square for a while, we have now agreed to resume work at the end of October. Work will include stripping and re-polishing a number of the old wooden handrails and residents doors and also repairing some of the furniture found in the entrance halls of the buildings.

Due to the age of much of the woodwork in these buildings, we'll need to use very traditional techniques to ensure that we match the original finish. We will try to photograph some of the work and add the images to our examples pages when they are completed.
